Historic Costume Project

Working alone or in pairs, students will research a time period and identifies influential factors in Fashion’s History.   You will compose a PowerPoint to present to the class.  Below is a list of possible time periods to select from.  

History of a specific period of type - You may pick from almost any time period, but here are a few suggestions to get you thinking.
 
  Ancient Egyptian
  Ancient Greece
  Ancient Roman
  Any Century, 16th, 17th, 18th, etc.
  Any Decade in the 20th Century

The Powerpoint needs to include the following about the time period and the influences on clothing for women and men. 

1.  Type of garments worn during the time period, such as:
 
  Hats
  Shoes
  Dresses
  Swimwear
  Suit 

2.  Fashion influence made by a particular person in the time period, for example
  

  Napoleon
  Queen Victoria
  Twiggy
  Ginger Rogers
  Audrey Hepburn
  Cleopatra
  Jackie Kennedy
  Madonna
  Princess Diana
 

3.  Events of the time period that influenced the Fashion of the time, for example
 
  World War II
  Prohibition 
  Vietnam
  Women’s right to vote
  Women’s Movement – Wearing Pants
 

4.  Cultural events that influenced or changed clothing, for example
 
  Movies
  Music
  Dancing
