Focus

 
This WebQuest focuses on the social organization and structure of Ancient Egypt. Students will learn about Ancient Egypt and how the society was structured, which contributed toward its civilisation. Lessons will develop ability to use presentation as a way of showing understanding and knowledge.

 

 

Objectives/Goals


This webquest could be used as part of a social studies unit on ancient civilizations, with a focus on history. Prior lessons would focus on ancient Mesopotamia and other aspects ofAncient Egyptian culture and civilisation. This way, the students will have some background knowledge and they should be able to take this project further than without any previous knowledge. Students literacy skills should be also developed prior to undertaking the webquest, so they can easily access the tasks/activities presented.

 

 

  • Students will learn about how the hierarchy and society of Ancient Egypt was structured.
  • Students will develop writing skills and literacy through their journal entries.
  • Students will improve their presentational skills and ability to synthesize information in a clear and succinct way.

Resources


Prerequisite Skills: Comfort level with the internet and presentation programs including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Time Required: 2 - 3 days to develop webquest.
Technology: Students will need access to a computer that has relevant programs to complete the tasks. The libary (public and school) will be suitable if no computer is available at home.
