The burning of Um Ziefa in Darfur, Sudan. December 12, 2004USHMM Brian Steidle

To complete the WebQuest, click on the process tab and follow the links to each site.  Then, choose 3 links from each category (USHMM & Genocide, USHMM & the Holocaust, and Additional Resources) to take notes on using the guided note-taker.

Once you've viewed all the links on the 1st process tab (USHMM resources), click on process tab 2 and go to each link (non-USHMM sites).  Choose 3 links to take notes on using the guided note-taker.

Session 5 of this workshop will require you to become an "expert" in one of the 20th century genocides (Armenia, Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda, and Darfur).   Each group will be responsible for learning the background/history of the genocide and then presenting it in a brief newscast.  In addition, your group will be sharing teaching ideas using the multimedia resources you find during this WebQuest.  However, you only have about 60 minutes to review all the resources available through the USHMM, so use your time wisely.

NOTE: If you finish early, this would be a great time to begin your exploration to help you prepare for Session 5.  However, you will have a reading on your assigned genocide and time for planning during Session 5.
