It's Your Life!

Task

budget(1).jpg

Your task is to use web resources to research the costs of living:  housing, transportation, food, healthcare, child care, etc., and based on your income, make "real life" decisions on what your family will spend their money on and how much will be spent.  Where will you live?  What kind of housing will you be able to afford?  Will both parents need to work?  Who will care for the children?  If you purchase a car, will you be able to afford the gas?  Will you allow your children to purchase a pet?  Will you buy your 13 yr. old son the Playstation he's been bugging you for?  All these decisions and more are up to you- the family!  You will be given an example of healthy budgeting limits, but it is ONLY a suggestion.  It is up to you to make your decisions and face the consequences of your choices, whether positive or negative.  Be prepared to keep record of the suggestions, the problems and requests that each "family member" brings up.  You will prepare a budget showing the percent of income used for each cost of living category in the form of a circle graph, and will present "YOUR LIFE" to the class.
