Youth subcultures

Follow next steps and recommendations :

1. Work in groups of four. Choose your classmates.
2. Read the whole webquest to know exactly what you must do and how you are going to be evaluated.
3. Use an on-line dictionary to translate unknown words or to find their meanings while reading and searching for information.
4. Use the vocabulary and phrases from the text in your student’s book on pages 21-23 as an example.
5. Create a table and fill it with the following facts about emo, hip-hop, goth, gamers and punk (choose one):
   • Origin and reasons of the movement
   • Appearance: hair, make-up, tattoos, piercing
   • Fashion: clothes, style, accessories
   • Beliefs: ideas, vision of the world
   • Behavior in company, rules, usual activities
   • Tastes in music, drinks
   • Famous people, representatives
6. If you are acquainted with someone from the subculture, you may ask him to tell you some interesting facts or details.
7. Work with classmates. Create your Power Point Presentation. It must consist of 20-30 slides with many pictures to make it more interesting.
8. Say your own attitude to the subculture. (use phrases : It would be better... In my opinion... As a matter of fact... It depends on...)
9. Write 3-5 questions and at the end of the presentation ask your classmates. The questions must be problematic to make a discussion. For example, you may ask your classmates’ opinion about the subculture. (Would you like to be an emo/goth/gamer? Why/Why not?)
