First, you will be assigned to a team of 3 students.   Next, you will each choose one of the following adult honey bees to play the role of:  a drone, a queen, or a worker bee.  Then, you will follow the directions to complete the tasks below.

  1. You will each need to print out a Bee Information Keeping Sheet which you will find as an "attachment" on the previous Task page.
  2. Use link 1, below under Resources, to find information on the type of bee you chose.  After you have read, use your Bee Sheet to write down at least 3 interesting facts about your bee.
  3. Go to the Bee Hive link 2 and click on your bee to find more facts.  Click on 2 additional places in the hive and read more about bees.
  4. Use link 3 to watch the video The Life Cycle of a Bee.
  5. Print the Life Cycle of a Bee Chart at link 4.  Practice to see who will best be able to retell the Life Cycle of a Bee, using the Chart, to present to the class.
  6. Use link 6 to print the diagram of a bee.  Label its parts, and color in the picture.
  7. Decide together who and how you will present the diagram and chart to the other students and practice, practice, practice on this and your bee reports.
  8. Let the teacher know that you are ready for your presentation.
*Use any remaining time to watch the other bee videos that appeared after viewing The Life Cycle of a Bee.  Learn about how bees dance (link 5);  about digging bees (link 8); and other bee facts using the additional links on this page.

**When all the students have completed their presentations, you will write a paragraph about how you think we should stop the bees from bothering the students.
