2. Create a graphic organizer to organize the terms and definitions.  Include a picture to help you remember the definition.  Your graphic organizer should be neatly written on notebook paper or typed using Word.

3. Place the terms inside your detective notebook.  You will need to keep up with all of your work in this notebook until the end of the unit.

Step #2 in uncovering the secret to a mystery:

1. Read the mystery "The Case of the Missing Roses."

2. Using your vocabulary definitions and words, identify at least 5 of the elements you find in this mystery. Be sure to write the elements and the examples down on your own piece of paper.

3. Read at least one other mystery of your choice and find 5 different elements that you find in that mystery.  Be sure to write the elements and the examples down on your own piece of paper.

4. Answer the following questions that follow the mystery, "The Case of the Missing Roses."

5.  Write the answers on a piece of paper.  Be sure to use complete sentences.

6. Answer the same questions using the mystery of your choice.

7. Write the answers on a piece of papar.  Be sure to use complete sentences and label each section.

8. Place this information in your detective notebook until the end of the unit.

Step #3 in uncovering the secret to a mystery:

1. Follow the step-by-step recipe for creating your own mystery.  You may use additional resources to help you create a mystery.

2. Write your rough draft on piece of notebook paper and keep the draft in your detective notebook.

3. Have a parent or older peer proof read your rough draft for grammatical errors, mispelled words, dialogue, and sentence structure.

4. Make corrections to your rough draft and then type the final draft.

5. Bring in your rough draft and final draft to place inside your detective notebook.

Now that you have uncovered the truth behind a mystery, you are able to report your findings!
