Historical Figures During the Revolutionary War

1. Students will be shown an example of a news article that they did on a historical figure.
2. Students will each be assigned a historical figure from the Revolutionary War.
3. Students will then discuss with a partner what they already know about their historical figure and then write down some questions they have about their person that they might want to find out about during their research.
4. Students will use the internet to research information about their historical figure. Things they might want to find out about their person are: Their family history, what they did during the war, when they were born and how long they lived, etc.
5. Students will take notes on a research note sheet as they are researching their historical figure.
6. Once they are done with the research they will write a rough draft of their newspaper article.
7. Students will revise their newspaper article, by exchanging papers with other students.
8. Students will make the necessary changes to their research paper.
9. Students will publish their newspaper article in the class newspaper that will be distributed to all the classes in the school.
