Hello again!
Let's review our map vocabulary and have some fun at the same time.
1. Review the BrainPop video on map skills and see what Tim and Moby have to say about maps.
- Click on the BrainPop link below under resources.
2. What is a Compass Rose? How do we use one?
A Compass Rose is a circle decorated with points to show the cardinal directions (North, East, South, and West), as well as the intermediate directions (Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Northwest).
- Click on the Compass Rose link below to have some fun practicing our cardinal and intermediate directions.
- Click on the Compass Rose YouTube video for a song to help you remember the directions - Never East Soggy Worms!
3. How do you use a Map Key?
- Click on the Map Key link below to try and find your way around Adventure Island!
4. Okay - you have learned about the equator and prime meridian and how they split the world into four hemispheres.
- Click on the Invisible Lines video to see a funny song about these "invisible lines". I have to warn you - it was made by a teacher that CAN NOT SING!!!
5. Now that we have reviewed, let's go to the "Action!" page to play some games to see how much you know and remember.
