  1. First, you'll need to complete your reading of "A Tree Is a Plant."
  2. Think about what you have learned about the importance of trees.
  3. Ask yourself these questions: How do trees grow?  Why do we need trees?
  4. Now, take a look at a short description of the importance of Arbor Day by clicking on the first link at the bottom of the page.
  5. Ask yourself these questions: What does Arbor Day have to do with trees?  Why is Arbor Day so important?
  6. Next, review the short passage from your book in the second link on the bottom of the page.
  7. Ask yourself these questions: What does the passage make you think about?  How do so many trees disappear if the are so strong and even survive all winter?
  8. Also, Take a look at the third link on the bottom of the page showing many, many trees that have been cut down.
  9. Ask yourself these questions: Why is it important to plant new trees?  What will happen if we stop planting new trees?
  10. Think about all that you have learned about trees and he importance of Arbor Day.
  11. Now, you are ready to start your summary! 
  12. Begin your summary by telling what you learned about trees from the story you read and the passages you read.
  13. Then, tell what parts you liked and why they are important to know for the celebration of Arbor Day.
