Exploring Animal Habitats

Let's take a Look at the Road Map:

  • First you will be assigned a group to work with
  • Your group will work together to complete Goal 1

Goal 1: 15 Miuntes to Complete

Answer 3 Essential Questions with your group using the Britannica Encycolopedia:

1. What is an habitat? What three things all habitats have in common? What are they things important?

Go to the link below that is labeled Britannica Online:

In the search box put in the word "habitat" you can chose to read about it with your group or press the volume symbol and it will read it to you.  Please try to discuss and answer the 3 essential questions with your group. Once you have completed Goal 1 go to Goal 2.

Goal 2: Your Group will need to choose an animal to create an habitat for. After you have chosen an animals from the list, split up and research different parts of the habitat. 

List: After your group has chosen an animal click below under resources to find out them.

Goldfish            Bluebird                Frog                 Dog        Taratuala                  

Look for what they eat, where it finds its source of water, and where it tends to make its home.

Once you have chosen the animal to research and find out all about its habitat, your group is not ready to move to Goal 3.

Goal 3: Using the information you and your group ha found, create a suitable habitat for your animal that include all the essential building blocks for its survival.

Build a habitat that is suitable for your animal. Make sure to include the basic building blocks of survival. By looking at your finished habitat, you should be able to answer the follow questions:

What does your animal eat?           Where does your animal get water from? 

Where does your animal get shelter?   

 Be creative. You may use any materials to help you construct your habitat. (modeling clay, toys, paper, shoe box, crayons, etc.)
