Process

  1. Research.  Read, view, or listen to a minimum of 3 of the resources listed below.  You may need to visit more than 3 resources to gather enough information to argue your point of view. One of those resources must be number 4 (Mississippi Madness) or number 5 (Justice Denied).
  2. Record.  Record your notes about the case on the handout provided.  Also record the URL to each site you visited.
  3. Respond.  Log on to Edmodo, join your hour's discussion group, and write a 1-paragraph OPE response to each of the three required resources.  Then, respond to one response written by another classmate for each of your three resources.    (You will respond 6 times, for a total of 30 daily points.)
  4. WRite.  Brainstorm, organize, and write your persuasive letter and works consulted page.  You may wish to revisit the task page to review the links on writing a persuasive letter, writing a works consulted page, and using a citation builder.  Ms. Parrott will also present a mini-lesson on writing your works consulted page three days into this project.
  5. Revise.  Find a peer who is willing to read and respond to your letter using the handout provided.  Then complete your revisions, and use the editing checklist provided to make final changes to your  essay and works consulted page.
  6. Rush your essay and works consulted page to Ms. Parrott.
