Process

To begin this process you will need to be sure you have headphones, some paper for notes and brainstorming, a pencil, and crayons for a drawing. This process will help you to reach a place where you are ready to preform your task.

 1. Watch this video and observe what is going on.
  •  Think through the process of the water cycle with your knowledge from class and the information this video gives. Begin to think about possible events in your life as a raindrop.
 2. Watch this piece of  The Magic School Bus: Wet All Over.
  • The students in Mrs. Frizzle's class go through the water cycle. Observe the steps that they go through. Create a drawing to refer back to later about the process they go through. Notice why this process is called a cycle. Include some representation of it being a cycle in your drawing.
 3. Go to this site and gain an understanding of the names of the parts of the
    water cycle.
  • Add these names to your drawing. You may want to begin a flowchart to describe the cycle. An example of what this may look like is attached in the resources section below. (This cycle has room for seven steps. You could have more or less than this. Change the chart to meet your needs.)
 4. Use this interactive water cycle to be sure you have included all necessary
    steps.
  • You can run this on auto or click on each step. Add information about the characteristics and processes of each step to the flow chart.
 5. Add more information to each step of your cycle.
Review previous links and these two links for information:
 6. Brainstorm places you would go as a raindrop.
Use these pages to help if needed:
 7. Choose places you want to use and put them in an order that fits the water
    cycle.
  • You will need to fill five days. There is a planning table attached in the resource section below if you would like to use it.
 8. Choose which form of creative writing you want to use.
  • You may choose a journal, narrative, or weather report from the perspective of yourself as a water droplet.
 9. Begin your writing task.
  • Review the evaluation section to see a rubric which will be used to assess you. Use your drawing, flow-chart, brainstorming, and planning table to help with your writing.
  • When finished writing, submit a paper copy of your writing to your teacher.
 10. Complete the self-assessment found on the evaluation tab.
