The purpose of this webquest is to help the algebra 1 or algebra 2 student understand the TI calculator and its operation. The standardized exams that allow the use of calculators expect the students to have this knowledge well enough in advance and test the various ways the calculator can be used.

There are many uses of the TI-84 calculator. In this webquest I will give you the steps for plotting a graph, making a scatter-plot, and finding the intercepts of two lines on a graph with pictures from a TI-83 calculator. This can be done on TI calculators online and on the computer. In the second part there are sample activities and problems for students to search online with possible urls as helpful guides.

I am a math teacher with a masters in math education. I like to teach math and let students try out problems with help or without help. There are twp important books on math that I really recommend reading: "The Joy of Mathematics." and "Problem Solving" by George Polya.

I encourage students to post response to my website:onlinemath.webstarts.org Math and science are fun and exciting subjects and we should provide all the help we can to help the new learners. That is my philosophy. Thank you for reading, Mansoor Ahmed
