You may be asking... Why do I have to study cells?

The reasons are many, but here are a few that directly relate to you!
1. The animal cells you are about to study are the very cells that inhabit your own body!
2. The process of photosynthesis happening in plant cells provides the food and oxygen you need to continue to exist!
3. Healthy, functioning cells accomplish cellular respiration so that your cells have energy to function!
4. Understanding your cells helps you to understand how you grow and heal!

Throughout this investigation of cells, your primary goal is to answer the following questions:

1. What are the characteristics & needs of living things?
2. How are organisms classified?
3. What are cells made of?
