Focus:
This WebQuest basically focuses on the role of a pet owner for pet care and pet health. The objective of this webquest is to help students learn about the responsibilities that come with owning a cat and dog. The lesson uses informational links and PowerPoint that students can research to learn about the subject.
We would recommend using this lesson in conjunction with a story about a cat or dog or during a unit on animals. This way, the students will have some background knowledge if they haven’t had any experience with pets.
- Students will learn about how often and how much to feed their cat or dog.
- Students will discover their pet's grooming or cleaning routine.
- Students will learn if there are any precautions they should take when first adopting a pet, or safely concerns with owning a cat or dog.
- Students will identify the pet's need for exercise and activity for a healthy life.
- Students will find out if their pet can be trained.
- Students will work together cooperatively to gather and share information.
- Students will have fun becoming knowledgeable about dogs and cats!
Resources:
Prerequisite Skills: Ability to click links and read information on the computer.
Time Required: 2 days (45 minutes each)
1 day for reaseach and filling out sheet.
1 day for finishing, and sharing informatioon classmates.
