This WebQuest will help you better understand the function of the Periodic Table and the elements on it. The Periodic Table of Elements was put together by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869. The purpose of the Period Table is to classify, organize, and compare all of the many forms of chemical behavior. The Periodic Table is used in chemistry, physics, and chemical engineering. As of July 2009, there are 117 elements that make up the Periodic Table.
