  As a speech patholigist you will be required to prepare your students for the language demands of school and state mandated testing, and society itself.  Research is showing that you need be able to comprehend and apply knowledge and skills in the following:

  1. Supporting listening, speaking, reading and writing development
  2. Explicitly teaching academic language
  3. Valuing cultural diversity and inclusion
   

  To help you achieve a better conceptual knowledge of supporting oral language development and explicitly teach academic English in particular, this present webquest encourages you to discover the concept of second language acquisition and the corresponding stages of second language acquisition and how it impacts your career as a speech pathologist.
