Here is the basic lesson plan I created that this WebQuest was based on:

  • Materials:
    • Computer with Internet Access
    • Brain Pop-Michelangelo
    • Michelangelo Bibliography @ http://www.michelangelo.com/buon/bio-index2.html.
    • PowerPoint
    • Michelangelo Note-taking Worksheet
    • Pencil

    VIII.
    Instruction:

Teacher will introduce research of Michelangelo with
    a short Brain Pop video

Teacher will show students the Michelangelo
bibliography website, and pass out the Michelangelo Note-taking worksheet.

Teacher will review note-taking worksheet and share
places where students can find this information within the website. Students
will also be given access to the Brain Pop video for the review again.

Teacher will provide students with an example of the
PowerPoint, to help them visualize the end result.

Teacher will review the essentials of PowerPoint with
students, opening, saving, and making a new slide, backgrounds, and
    saving and inserting artwork

    IX.
    Guided Practice:

    1. Teacher will provide students with an opportunity to
explore the Michelangelo website and have them work together to find
research for the first 3 topics on the worksheet-date of birth, the
period he lived, and what he studied.

    2. Teacher will circulate and provide feedback as
      students are researching.

    3. Teacher will have students open PowerPoint with an
elbow partner, create the title slide, create a new slide, insert a
picture in the folder, and save their PowerPoint to their folder on
      SharePoint.

    4. Teacher will circulate to support student’s needs as
      they complete each task.

    X.
    Independent Practice:

    1. Students will complete their research, completing the
      note-taking organizer for Michelangelo.

    2. Students will open and begin their PowerPoint
presentation over the course of 3 class periods.

    XI.
    Closure:

    Each day,
teacher will have students describe on new piece of research they have
acquired on Michelangelo, allowing other students to elaborate on what is
discussed so students gain new information and validate what they have found.

    XII.
    Evaluation:

    Students will
be evaluated on their ability to create 6 out of 8 slides based on the
    Michelangelo note-taking, and their research.
Students will be evaluated based on their overall design of their
PowerPoint presentation, including a new slide for each piece of artwork and
    important information about Michelangelo.
