Exploring the Life Cycle of a Plant
Process
Objective: Students will be able to learn more about plants by investigation the life cycle of a plant from a seed and by recording changes over a period of time. Students will be able to demonstrate their new knowledge about plant life after completing several interactive tasks, assessments and journal reflection in this webquest. Students will be able to create a word search puzzle on the plant life to demonstrate their understanding about plants. Hook: How can you demonstrate your understanding of plant life through the use of technology? Essential Question: What is a plant? Are plants important to us? Where do you find plants? What do you notice about the way the plant grows? Which side do the leaves grow on? What things do you think plants need to help them grow? How many things in your home do you think come from plants? Learning Process:
Students will explore several interactive online activities to help them understand and allow the concept skills for living
organism. The online website will provide the learners with the appropriate information and assignments to support
instruction about the life cycle of a plant. Student will practice reading and engage in online learning activities to identify,
explain the relationship of living system. Students will view an online video clip to see how a plant starts to grow from a
seed. The website demonstrates how a plant starts to grow from a seed.
Interactive learning instructions to complete the Wequest
Step 1: Task - Read each task very carefully before starting any activity.
Step 2: Videos - Watch each video that supports the learning activity in task #1, #2, #3 and #4.
Listen and watch the videos before clicking any links within the task carefully.
Remember to take notes as you watch the videos.
Step 3: Interactive Links - Each tasks has an interactivty learning component that supports
the video. Read the webpage direction before beginning the activitySelect the links in order to ensure you
understand and complete the steps in correctly as you learn about the life of a plant.
Step 4: Evaluation - Read the Evaluation menu very carefully to understand how the rubric will score your
journal reflections for task #3 and #4.
Step 5: Documents - Download the documents located in the task, save the document in your science folder on the
computer. Use your name and document title as the file name as you save the document.
Remember to use your notes from the video and the interactive activities to help complete
written assignments. All work will be graded.
Step 6: Journal Reflections - There are two journal reflections in the webquest that has to be completed
by the end of the Webquest.
Step 7: Productivity - Students will complete a activity that requires them to make their own word search or
crossword puzzle using the vocabulary words from the webquest.
