Drug Danger: Abuse of Illegal and Legal Substances

According to the U.S. Department of Justice in 2004 a total of 18.4% of federal prisoners committed crimes in order to obtain money for drugs. 14.8% of those crimes were classified as violent crimes. In a 2002 survey of inmates in local jails statistics from the US Department of justice showed that 44% of men and 55% of women were dependant on drugs or alcohol at the time of their incarceration. According to http://www.streetdrugs.org/topten.htm the top ten misused drugs are tobacco, alcohol, prescription drugs, methamphetamine, marijuana, MDMA, crack cocaine, heroin, steroids and inhalants. The National Institute on Drug Abuse offers information on specific drugs as well as statistics and researched supported short-term and long-term effects of using specific drugs. Drugs cause long lasting effects and carry severe risks for not only the drug abuser but also for their family, friends and society in general. This site seeks to offer you information about the real dangers of drugs. The reality is that drugs will ruin your life and the lives of your loved ones.
