Taxes and Fees can be a major expense if they are paid once a year. However, you can budget for them throughout the year and the impact to your budget won't be as bad. When purchasing a vehicle you must determine if the state you live in has a state sales tax or an excise tax on vehicles. South Dakota does not have a state sales tax but rather an excise tax for using the the highways.
