This webquest is for grades 10-12 and was developed with a high school Spanish class in mind.  I put this webquest together with a social/economic justice message in mind as a cultural lesson for my Spanish II and III classes.  I think this webquest would be excellent for a high school science class or social studies/civics class. .

One of the most important skills students will learn from this webquest is that of making reasonable inferences from data.  It's important for students to be able to analyze data and then make connections that aren't implicit in the numbers.  It's a skill they can apply to other subjects and will serve them well after high school, so I've emphasized this in the webquest, especially in the performance rubric.

Standards and objectives used in developing this webquest:

Standards:    

FL.S.LII.2 Students will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and appreciation of other cultures and the relationship among the following:
  • Practices - patterns of social interactions
FL.S.LIII.3 Students will:
  • Aquire information from and make connections to other disciplines
  • Recognize the distinctive viewpoints that are available only through a language and its culture(s)
Objectives

FL.O.LII.2.03 Discuss the implications of social, geographical and historical factors influencing cultural practices

SS.O.11.2.9 Critique the purpose and performances of governmental and non governmental agencies

SS.O.11.3.2 Classify developed countries (MDC) and developing countries (LDC) evaluate their economies and compare/contrast their provision of services made to their citizens (e.g. health care, education, military)

SC.O.10.3.6 Given a current Science-Technology-Societal issue, construct and defend potential solutions.

21st Century Technology Tools

21C.O.9-12.1.TT.4 Student uses audio, video, pictures, clipart, moviemaker programs, webpage design software, electronic documents and other files to collaborate for the creation of electronic products that inform multiple audiences both inside and outside the school environment.
