Individually, you will explore the online links that I have provided about totem poles. These links include articles that give helpful facts and history behind totem poles, videos, and images of totem poles. After exploring the links, you will take a short quiz about the significance of totem poles in Native American Culture and art. When you have completed the quiz you will design your own small totem pole and mold it out of clay. We will put these in a kiln to dry and once they are dry you will paint them. After your totem is complete we will spend a day showing are totems to the class and you will explain what the significance is behind the animals and colors you chose to include in your totem pole.
