Process

1.    Team up with another student.
2.    Pick a role: one of the students will be for and the other will be against incorporating genomics and disaster preparedness in health promotion.
3.    Review each of the steps of the Webquest so you can have "big picture" of the assignment.
4.    Access the U.S. preventative services web site by clicking here. Read their document where they present a list of health promotion priorities and how they rank. You can search for the document or click here.
5.    Identify from these list two health promotion priorities: one related to genomics  and the other to disaster preparedness. Support your selection with data and convincing arguments.
6.    Access a  web site with information about genomics by clicking here. Read through the initial page. Click on the genetic testing heading and read through that page.  Debate on how information on genetic testing available today can or cannot not be used in health promotion: one student will be for and the other will be against.
7.    Access the following  web site about disaster preparedness by clicking here. Choose one man made disaster and explore it further by clicking on the subheadings listed on the page. Debate the role of the nurse in promoting health to prevent this disaster: one student will be for and the other will be against.
8.    Brief reflection on a concept you learned with this activity.
9.    Prepare a APA format report where you will address items 5, 6, 7, and 8.
