  1. Decide how many will be travelling in your party. This does not need to be the same number of people as are working on this webquest.
  2. As a team, decide which time of year, and more specifically which dates you will be visiting New York (five days, four nights). This is very important for flights, hotels and shows.
  3. Outline briefly the tasks to be worked on.
  4. Choose or assign, who is going to work on each task. This may be individuals or small groups. It may be that a group may choose to take on more than one task, this is up to the team as a whole to decide.
  5. Task A -Flights. Using www.travelocity.com investigate the flight options for the chosen dates of travel. Look carefully at departure and arrival times, changes and stopovers, and of course, prices. Prepare a presentation of the best five choices. Designing a table or using a spreadsheet may help. Be able to argue why your group prefers a particular choice.
  6. Task B -Hotels. Using www.expedia.com look at the hotel options available. You should take into account location (give your team options, near the park, midtown, Broadway, downtown, the Village, and be prepared to present arguments for each), star rating, amenities, customer reviews, and of course, prices. Prepare a presentation of what your group agree to be the best choices. You may choose to use powerpoint to help you do this. Try to include photographs of the hotels, and use a map to show where in NYC each hotel is, and what attractions it is close to.
  7. Task C -Restaurants. Using www.menupages.com and www.nys.com/restaurants/  research different restaurants and cuisines in the Manhattan area. Choose four different restaurants, each serving food from a different country (eg Italian, Brazillian, Japanese, Classic American). Search their websites, try to find menus, reviews and photographs you can print. Prepare a small leaflet for each restaurant that you choose, to share with the team. Include as part of the group presentation, a world map showing the location of the countries each restaurant is representing.
  8. Task D -Theatre and Musicals. Using www.ticketmaster.com select six different Broadway musicals. Read reviews and prepare a short presentation on each, including photographs, links to video clips if available, music from the show, and a brief summary of the story. The members of this group should each say which musical they would like to see, and why. The team should then make a collective choice of two shows. Now the group must check ticket availability, times and prices.
  9. Task E -Museums. Using www.amnh.org plan a day for the team at the American Museum of Natural History. This is a very open task, and the group can approach it any way they wish, using powerpoint if desired.
  10. Task F -Siteseeing. Using www.gonyc.about.com/od/bestofnewyorkcity/tp/topattractions.htm and a map of Manhattan, plan a route to visit the top six sites from this top ten. Choose the route carefully so that it makes sense and the team is not backtracking all the time. For each site, prepare a short presentation about it's history and features (eg, when was the construction of the Empire State Building, and how tall is it?). Include photographs of each site. You may use powerpoint to help.
  11. Task G -The Trip. The whole team should now work together to plan the itinerary for the visit from departure to arrival. This should include a breakdown of cost.
  12. Task H -Extras. It may be interesting to look at shopping in the Big Apple. Which are the major department stores and where are they located? Which are the trendiest and most expensive streets to visit for top shopping?
  13. HAVE FUN!!!!
