To begin your journey you and your three teammates will need start your journals describing the shrinking experience. Your journals will help you reflect on what you have leaned so far, and what else you will need to learn. You should have at least four journal entries to maintain scientific accuracy.

The first thing you and your team must study is the ant anatomy. Check out these websites and find a good picture to print out and use later. You will need to print it out, color it and label the parts of the ant’s body.

The second thing your team must discover is the different jobs that the ants do to maintain their colony. Once you have information about the different jobs, each teammate must pick one to do for themselves.

The fourth things you will do is you will come up with a presentation of your job that your team will use to show to the class. Your team can chose to do a PowerPoint presentation, or make poster boards collages, or artistic renderings, but everyone in your team must do the same type to make the presentation coherent.

The fifth think for you to do is to get with your team and think of ways to make a better colony. You should have the following: ideal location, ideal ratios for different types of ants, (i.e. 1 queen: 50,000 ants, 2500 nursery workers: 15,000 soldiers), the best way to set up defences against enemies, best food to gather, a layout for the dens.

When you have several ways to make a better colony you will type up a brief report to give to the queen to report your findings, and pick teammates to represent different parts of the presentation to the Royal Court (which will be your other classmates). All team members must present.

All of your information will be turned in, journals, ant anotomies, job presentation, and report to make a better colony.
