You must work by yourself until given more directions
A terrible accident has happened on mars, a massive wind storm as knocked the space shuttle off of the launch platform. It was ready to take The G.R.E.A.T. Team home to Earth. In the last communications with the Earth Command they told you about a simple machine emergency kit, you must know research and use it. There are now communications to help out you are on your own! You must complete the following tasks to stand the space shuttle up and fly home:
-Click on the Space Shuttle Damage Information Report and read it. This document will give you helpful information to stand the shuttle up
-Click on the website called Information about Mars and read it.
-Open the word document called Simple Machines: The G.R.E.A.T. Mars Mission Vocab guide. Use the word document called hotlist The G.R.E.A.T. Mars Mission Vocab guide to define the terms. Click on each web address and read the webpage and explore the links to define the terms. Save the work and print it off using the directions in the word document called directions to save and print all work.
-The commander will now assign you to a group of three people. Using the random number generator pick a number between one and three to see which simple machine group you will become an expert on:
Number one will work on wheel and axle + incline plane
Number two will work on pulley + wedge
Number three will work on lever + screw
-Using the information in the Expert Simple Machines hotlist complete the Simple Machines Expert Planning Template PowerPoint. Be sure to Save the work and print it off using the directions in the word document called directions to save and print all work.
-To ensure you are truly an expert visit Edheads and play the simple machines game.
-The time has come for you to reunite with your three person team and share your expert knowledge with them. Once you have shared with each other you must open the document called, The Action Plan for Standing The G.R.E.A.T. shuttle up and complete it. This should give a very detailed account of how you will stand the shuttle back up on the platform to allow it to fly back to earth. This plan should be very detailed, logical, and use at least 5 of the 6 simple machines. You need to save and print off this plan. Your group will be assigned a number, to determine which order it will be presented to the class. |
