The Clark
County school board wanted to put a new Carter school in. The meet on the topic
but in the end the proposal was rejected. It was mainly rejected because of the
funding that it would take to run it.
The York Academy’s proposal called for 20 percent
of its funding to come from future fundraising and donations. He said they
consider 5 or 6 percent to be a safe number. Offering a free education, the
school would serve children from kindergarten to fifth grade. Their goal is to
open in August 2012, but if they have to apply again, the projected start date
will be pushed back to 2013. They saw no need for one there are already two in
Clark County.
