Step 1: The class will be divided into groups of four students per group. Within each group, choose a traveling leader, hotel leader, activity leader, and restaurant leader. Each leader must cooperate with the other leaders in the group to create a fun, successful trip.
Step 2: There are four destinations to choose from. They include Gatlinburgh, TN; St. Louis, MO; Chicago, IL; and Wilmington, NC. Choose one destination as a group.
Step 3: If you are the traveling leader...
- Find directions to your destination. Print the directions and figure the following on them. Each group is expected to start their trip in Evansville, IN.
- Using the directions you found to your destination, figure the cost of commuting to and from your destination (assume the price per gallon of gas is $3.80 and your vehicle gets 20 miles per gallon).
If you are the hotel leader...
- Find a hotel, cabin, or condominium that suits four individuals.
- Calculate the total price of staying in the place of your choice for four nights.
If you are the activity leader...
- Find at least three activities to complete while at the destination.
- Calculate the price for four people to complete each activity and calculate the estimated price of completing all activities.
If you are the restaurant leader...
- Find at least three different restaurants to eat at while at the destination.
- Calculate the estimated price for four people to eat at each restaurant and calculate the estimated price of eating at all three restaurants.
Step 4: Once each leader has found their total price, add the prices together as a group. Remember, you have a budget of $2,500 for your entire trip!
Step 5: Make any necessary changes to your trip, according to the budget.
Step 6: As a group, create a way to present your trip to the rest of the class. This can be using poster(s), PowerPoint, skit, or creating a video. Each group will present their trip to the rest of the class.
Step 7: Each member of the group needs to complete the group evaluation and submit it on the day of your presentation. You will need to print the evaluation and write in your scores for each member of your group.
