In this assignment you will be expected to write a journal entry that serves to analyze the interrelationships that exist within the Real Number System. You will apply your understanding of the vocabulary words you defined. You will utilize the knowledge you acquired through your research. You may even want to refer to the images in the Photo Gallery.

Journal Prompt: Now that you have become more familiar with the Real Number System, explain the
interrelationships that exist between the different subsets. In your writing be sure to address the following:
  1. Can a number be both rational and irrational? Why or why not?
  2. Describe the differences between repeating decimals, terminating decimals, and non-terminating non-repeating decimals.
  3. Discuss how fractions are related to repeating decimals and terminating decimals.
  4. Compare and contrast the set of integers and the set of rational numbers.
  5. Determine what whole numbers and integers have in common and how they differ.
  6. Explain how natural numbers and whole numbers are different.
