The nearest urban dwellers come to nature is to interact with birds in parks, gardens and roadsides.  Have a look at this blog which celebrates the birds that are common to the ever growing city of Kampala in Uganda.

Then go to the CUBS site Celebrate Urban Birds to see how a project can be organised to collect high-quality data from participants that will provide valuable knowledge of how different environments will influence the location of birds in urban areas.

Founded in 2007, Celebrate Urban Birds is a year-round project developed and launched by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Its primary purpose is to reach diverse urban audiences who do not already participate in science or scientific investigation.

Now select a bird found in your neighbourhood and discover all you can about why it is there.
