Knowing what you have just learned about
cardinal directions, can you find Norwalk on the following map of CT? NOTE: Norwalk is in the South, West corner of Connecticut!

Using the same map above, can you describe to
your partner where some of the other cities in Connecticut are in relation to
Norwalk. For instance, Bridgeport
is NW of Norwalk. Take turns
asking your partner to describe where other cities in Connecticut are in
relation to Norwalk using cardinal directions.

Now let’s take some time to learn a little bit
about man-made and physical characteristics of a town. Go to the resources section at the
bottom of this page and click on Resource 1 called “Natural versus man-made
characteristics.”

Take some time to listen to natural versus
man-made sounds found in the following u-tube video. Can you and your partner determine which sounds are natural
and which are man-made?
