Introduction
I am a Senior at Georgia State University in Atlanta completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and Ceramics. I graduate 10 May 2008. Presently, I live in Atlanta, Georgia but am willing to relocate.
I am currently student teaching at Hillside Elementary School in Roswell, Georgia under Rebecca Mahan. Hillside is a diverse school both economically and ethnically, as nearly 35% of the student population is Hispanic. Beginning 3 March 2008, I will be student teaching at The New Schools at Carver--a non-traditional public magnet school funded, in part, by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It houses five schools of various disciplines, including the Carver School of the Arts, where I will be teaching Visual Arts under Felicia Waldon.
At Georgia State, I completed an extensive studio program including classes in printmaking, photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, and ceramics. I have also taken several Art History classes in addition to General Education and Art Education classes.
Outside of the university setting, I have nearly ten years experience with childcare and special needs children and was hired recently to teach a Drawing and Painting class to school-aged children enrolled in the Fox Theater's outreach program. I am trained in grant-writing, as well. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, sewing, making my own art, cooking, and baking.
