Evaluation Rubric

Poor Good Very Good Excellent Score

Algebraic Techniques/Content 1 - The student demonstrates the mastery of 1 or fewer methods of solving for the roots of a quadratic function 2 - The student demonstrates the mastery of 2 sufficiently different methods of solving for the roots of a quadratic function 3 - The student demonstrates the mastery of 3 sufficiently different methods of solving for the roots of a quadratic function 4 - The student demonstrates the mastery of at least 4 sufficiently different methods of solving for the roots of a quadratic function /4

Thoroughness/Effort 1 - The student shows little or none of the process, computation, and explanation as they demonstrate the techniques of solving for roots 2 - The student shows some of the process, computation, and explanation as they demonstrate the techniques of solving for roots 3 - The student shows a sufficient amount of process, computation, and explanation as they demonstrate the techniques of solving for roots 4 - The student shows a wealth of process, computation, and explanation as they demonstrate the techniques of solving for roots /4

Accuracy 1 - The student's work displays several conceptual flaws, computational errors, and points of ambiguity or confusion 2 - The student's work is somewhat free of conceptual flaws, computational errors, and points of ambiguity or confusion 3 - The student's work is mostly free of conceptual flaws, computational errors, and points of ambiguity or confusion 4 - The student's work is completely free of conceptual flaws, computational errors, and points of ambiguity or confusion /4
