After six years of partnering with Penske Racing in the NASCAR series, Kurt Busch and Penske Racing decide to go in their separate ways. Both agreed that next season Kurt would not be driving in the Penske car. Kurt decided that he wanted to rediscover why he started driving in the first place. Penske wants it to be known that they did not fire Kurt; they just had a mutual agreement that it was time for them to split.
This split follows a rocky season for Kurt with several altercations both public and on the track. The split was not caused by these feuds. It is not known whether or not Kurt Busch will return to the sport.
Other drivers have contacted Penske Racing to fill the spot. Penske is not sure on who they will have next year in Kurt’s place but information is released that Nationwide driver Sam Hornish Jr. is not a candidate.
