Recently there have been many articles on anxiety and stress disorders. The studies focus more on what an anxiety disorder is rather than why certain people have more problems with anxiety. Another focus of the studies should be how it can be treated in an effective way with more availability for the patient. Scientists have discovered therapy and medicine are two ways to treat anxiety disorders. The availability of therapy for patients with an anxiety disorder is limited to big cities. Many patients do not live in big cities and therefore don’t have access to the therapy treatment. Using medication to try and stop the anxiety comes with risks as all medication does. Another issue with using drugs is they chemically change a person’s brain and many patients might be afraid that they won’t act like themselves anymore.
The studies on anxiety disorders have shown that the unpleasant feeling that renders the patients helpless is one that shouldn’t be felt if it can be helped; yet many don’t try hard enough to get the correct treatment for their patients. Since all patients are different, this poses a problem, but it is a simple problem to face if studies could be focused in a better direction.
Stress is a major factor in today’s nation due to the economy and other problems such as healthcare. The stress levels are still on the rise along with the number of patients with anxiety disorders. Maybe if healthcare could be provided without cost to Americans who couldn’t afford it, there wouldn’t be as much stress and anxiety in our nation.
