Tonic sol-fa has contibuted alot to the music industry in Fiji. It has created good singers and capable choir leaders in the country. The late Sir Josua Rabuwaqa was awarded his knightship from her majesty the Queen of England (Queen Elizabeth II) for his contribbutions to the music in Fiji. Sir Rabukawaqa was the leader of the Centenary Church Choir, which sang most of Sir Geroge Frederick Handel's compositions transcribed to tonic sol-fa. Today, in most Methodist households in Fiji, family members sing a voice group during their family devotions - soprano, alto, tenor or bass. This is the work of Rev. John Curwen which enabled Fiji to produce singers and composers who have used the tonic sol-fa muscial system as an art for worship.
